It is significant that this new milestone was achieved in a particularly challenging environment for the industry, as geopolitical developments in the Middle East continue to affect the ability to fully cover the network to this region, while the cost of aviation fuel has been at particularly high levels for the last five months.

The passenger growth rate for the month of July was perfectly balanced between the domestic and international networks, with an annual increase of 5,3 percent in both networks. Specifically, 886,000 passengers travelled on the domestic network with 66 routes to 32 destinations and 1,125,000 passengers on the international network with 154 routes to 108 destinations, in 43 countries.

The increase in direct connections from Thessaloniki, Heraklion and Rhodes to smaller domestic destinations has made a significant contribution to serving the seasonal needs of both Greek passengers and visitors to the country for the third consecutive year. In total, 38 routes are offered to 24 destinations outside Athens, significantly reducing the transfer time between regional destinations. This initiative contributes to the diffusion of qualitative development to more areas of the country, strengthening the potential of smaller destinations.

Our momentum continues, with the delivery of seven additional new A321neo aircraft in 2026, despite the increased costs caused by geopolitical conditions, as well as air traffic restrictions in Europe and especially in our country.”

He added, “Our growth is mainly driven by larger aircraft and more seats per flight, supporting our productivity, but also by fully recognising operational constraints, particularly at our main hub, Athens. It is noteworthy that, with the increased use of the new larger A321neo, we achieved a four percent increase in passengers to and from Athens in July, with only a one percent increase in our corresponding movements. At the same time, we significantly strengthened, with many more flights, the direct interconnection of destinations, including within the country, in order to support and expand the choices of our passengers.”
