The hugely significant global distinction recently bestowed upon Lefkara village by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was recently officially announced by Lefkara Municipality and Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) in the presence of the Cyprus deputy minister of tourism. Through this distinction, Lefkara has joined the international network of ‘Best Tourism Villages’.

The Municipality of Lefkara has been announced as one of the best villages in the world.

The eagerly awaited, new Lefkara Multi-functional Conference Centre has officially opened, bringing a modern facility to the traditional mountain village - famous worldwide for its handmade embroidery and other unique handicrafts.

The exquisite and richly historical embroidered lace linens of Lefkara village are the first traditional Cypriot product to be officially certified for values of authenticity and heritage by the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS), of which the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism is also a stakeholder.

According to Sofocles Sofocleous, mayor, Lefkara, a 300-400 capacity conference centre will be available to contribute to Lefkara as well as to the tourist industry in the area as it will be able to host a range of events.

On April 19, at Japan’s Nippon Club, in cooperation with the consulate general of Cyprus in New York, successfully organised the exhibition, Lefkaritika Laces: From Cyprus, a beautiful island county in the Mediterranean, which was open to the public until April 25.
