The Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Communications and Works, announced the completion of the sixth season of
excavations in the framework of the Agios Sozomenos Excavations and Survey Project (ASESP) at the localities Ampelia and Nikolides,
under the direction of Despina Pilides, Curator of Antiquities.

This excavation season lasted from September 10 until October 26.

This year the aim was to further investigate the pithos storage house on the small hillock at Ampelia,
its extent and chronology as well as investigate the plan, chronology and nature of the monumental fortification at Nikolides.

The Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announced that during the exhibition of Dimitris Alithinos ‘Hysteron, Proteron, Us’, guided tours will be offered during the following dates and times:

December 01, 10:00-11:30
December 15 10:00-11:30

The exhibition will take place at the Archaeological Museum of the Lemesos District and it is organised within the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, using the slogan ‘Our heritage: where the past meets the future’. The guided tours will be offered by the Αrchaeological Officer of the Department of Antiquities, Yiannis Violaris.
