The distinction will help globally promote Palaichori and Larnaca’s mountainous regions as attractive destinations for travellers to visit. A key reason behind EDEN’s establishment was to promote the development of sustainable tourism across the EU, while also focussing on annual national competitions for selecting tourist destinations of excellence for each participating member state.

Additionally, EDEN promotes the values, diversity and common features of the EU’s tourist destinations, while also improving the visibility of its emerging destinations.
