Ayia Napa Turned Off the Lights

As part of World Wide Fund for Nature’s initiative, Earth Hour, Ayia Napa Municipality showed its support to the global campaign by switching off the lights of many of its public and historic buildings for one hour on March 25.

Lit candles were put outside the archaeological site of the Medieval Monastery of Ayia Napa forming the number of 60 which, symbolising the sixty minutes of no electric lighting, as well as arranged in a cross.

Over the years, Earth Hour supporters have helped power some amazing results, from pushing for eco-friendly laws to lighting up homes with solar energy.

With this initiative Ayia Napa Municipality, together with other 186 countries and territories, stepped forward to shine a light on climate change.
