Tourist Arrivals

Cyprus arrivals of tourists reached 581.880 in August of this year compared to 602.026 in August 2025, recording a decrease of 3,3 percent.

For the period of January – August of this current year, arrivals of tourists totalled 2.820.649 compared to 3.034.155 in the corresponding period of 2025, recording a decrease of 7 percent.

Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for this August, with a share of 30,5 percent (177.603) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 23,3 percent (135.628), Poland with 6,3 percent (36.622), Germany with 4,4 percent (25.823) and Sweden with 3 percent (17.441).     

For this August, 84,5 percent of tourists travelled for holidays, 13 percent visited friends and relatives and 2,4 percent travelled for business purposes. Respectively, in August 2025, 86,5 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 11,4 percent visited friends or relatives and 2,1 percent visited Cyprus for business purposes.

Returns of Residents of Cyprus

A total of 239.337 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in August of this year, compared to 238.740 in the corresponding month in 2025, recording an increase of 0,3 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned this August were Greece with a share of 36,6 percent (87.684), the UK with 6,9 percent (16.448), Italy with 4,6 percent (11.054), Poland with 4,3 percent (10.408) and Russia with 4,2 percent (10.021).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in August of this year was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 93,1 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 5,9 percent, studies 0,8 percent and other reasons 0,2 percent.
