The inauguration ceremony for the overall event was a three-level Marathon of 21 km, five km and 1.5 km where mascots cheered the athletes on while the band, Krutoun Batukinio, entertained with music. Christmas presents and plenty of food and beverages were also offered to visitors after the races.

Athletes from all over Cyprus took part in the semi-marathons as did Yiannis Karousos, mayor, Ayia Napa, who dressed as Santa Claus and ran the 1.5 km race. Once the races concluded, all participants gathered to the winners' prize-winning platform. After the rewards and medals, Karousos, accompanied by representatives of the local authority and many young children, illuminated the Christmas tree and wished the crowd a Happy Christmas.
