The decision was a repeat of a previous decision taken by the Municipal Council. Concerning animal policy, the Municipality of Limassol revealed measures which include supporting sterilisation and adoption programmes for stray animals, recording and electronically marking all domestic animals located within the boundaries of the Municipality of Limassol, and the immediate investigation of complaints concerning cases of poisoning and animal abuse.

The decision of the Municipal Council was taken within the framework of the Municipality's obligation to ensure public safety and health in the public spaces it manages. The decision concerns the particular park that has evolved into an area of daily use by hundreds of families and children.
