The Department of Antiquities, of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announced that a new scientific programme including archaeological excavations was initiated by the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), in September of this year, at the site of Palaepaphos Marchello near Kouklia village.

This year’s excavations of the Department of Antiquities at Agios Sozomenos, under the supervision of the curator of antiquities, Dr Despina Pilides, assisted by the senior technician, Mary Chamberlain, lasted from May 13 until June 25, of this year and, for the first time, focused exclusively on the Nikolides plateau.
