EU Guest Nights Booked Online Show Solid Growth in Q1 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, guests spent 129.6 million nights in short-term rental accommodation in the EU, booked via Airbnb, Booking or Expedia.

This year appears promising, as the total number of guest nights increased by 4.8 percent compared with 2024 and by as much as 34.5 percent compared with 2023.

Nights spent in short-stay accommodation increased by 16.3 percent in January this year and 11.6 percent in February compared with the same months of 2024. On the other hand, data show an 8.6 percent decrease in March this year compared with March 2024, mostly due to the Easter holidays, which took place in April this year and March 2024. Strong results in the first two months helped offset the seasonal decline observed in March.

This information comes from monthly data on short-stay accommodation offered via online platforms. Today, Eurostat published the data for the first quarter of 2025 at the national level and the fourth quarter of 2024 at the regional level.
