I always wanted to get involved in the tourism industry as it was very intriguing for me.

For this reason I actually chose to study economics with a major in tourism management.

Since 1990, I have been working in the destination management company (DMC) and professional congress organiser (PCO) business as an employee for some years, later on as a partner, and as of 2005 as the owner of ML Smart Events.

I took a small break, for approximately four years to work in the hotel industry as sales manager at a large property.[…]

When did you join the industry and why?

I joined the industry back in 1998 but my interest began while I was still at school as I found [tourism] very intriguing. For this reason I chose to [do a] major in tourism management in Germany.

What is your favourite thing about working in the travel industry?

Being a DMC and a PCO, the events are never the same. Each one is a challenge from all aspects. Furthermore, meeting new people, new cultures and broadening our knowledge is truly very interesting. Where would you like to travel to for your next holiday? To the mystic Latin American region.
