Flights on the new route will begin on June 17 of this year and will operate three times a week – on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
With the addition of the new route, Wizz Air is expanding its presence on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, offering passengers from our maritime capital a convenient and affordable connection to one of the sunniest destinations in the Mediterranean. This step confirms the airline's commitment to improving Bulgaria's connectivity and stimulating holiday travel to and from the country.
Larnaca offers the perfect combination of a mild Mediterranean climate, sunny beaches, and the opportunity to explore ancient landmarks. The city is known for its mild climate and turquoise waters, and visitors can explore the magnificent Church of Saint Lazarus and the medieval Larnaca Castle. The Finikoudes coastal promenade is the perfect place for a stroll among palm trees, cozy cafes, and authentic Cypriot taverns, while the Salt Lake near the city attracts thousands of pink flamingos. According to ancient Greek mythology, it was on the shores of Cyprus that Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, was born from the sea foam. The place most associated with the legend is the rocky shore of Petra tou Romiou (also known as “Aphrodite's Rock”), located between Larnaca and Paphos. It is believed that swimming around the rocks brings good luck and eternal youth, and the place is one of the most romantic sunset spots on the island and among the most photographed natural landmarks in Cyprus.
“We are delighted to announce the launch of our new route from Varna to Larnaca, which will offer our passengers from both Bulgaria and Cyprus an even wider choice of summer vacation options. Cyprus is among the favourite summer destinations for Bulgarians, and with the announcement of this new connection, we are making travel easier and more affordable than ever. The new route will not only boost tourism but also strengthen ties between the two countries by providing passengers with the opportunity to fly easily and at affordable prices. Let’s WIZZ, Varna!”, said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, corporate communications manager, Wizz Air.
With the addition of the new route, Wizz Air will operate 18 direct routes from Varna to 10 countries during this year’s summer season. The expansion of Wizz Air's network from the seaside capital is part of the airline's long-term development strategy in Bulgaria, which also includes investments in operational reliability and improved passenger service, part of the Customer First Compass transformation plan that puts customers first.
