Protection of Holy Sites Intervention

An intervention was hosted by Ioannis Kasoulides, minister, foreign affairs, Cyprus, at the conference titled Places of Worship and Holy Sites in Europe and the Middle East: Status and Protection under National and International Law, where guests exchanged ideas on the protection of places of worship and holy sites in Europe and the Middle East.

Kasoulides expressed his interest on the issue of the protection of the Christian minorities in the Middle East and the protection of cultural heritage, especially during armed conflicts. Kasoulides encouraged that proposals that would contribute and enrich policy-making and legislative work in Europe and beyond, both at the national and the multilateral level, are needed.
