The meeting discussed the main issues affecting the tourism of the Larnaca Region which are related to the competencies of this ministry and which have been stagnant for many years.
Regarding the works concerning the Department of Antiquities, it was informed that work is underway at the Larnaca Museum - which remains closed from May 2017 - and this is expected to be reopened around the end of this year. The Museum will include, among other things, a very valuable carnivore room.

Regarding the movement of tennis courts, the mayor of Larnaca said the new stadiums are expected to be delivered around the end of October. The director assured that the Department of Antiquities and the French Archaeological Mission will be ready in time to begin the excavations for the emergence of the ancient harbour as soon as the existing grounds are removed.
During the meeting, the long-standing request of Larnaca Municipality and Larnaca Tourism Board for the concession of the City Castle for the purpose of political marriages was discussed, as well as the creation of the Museum of Archaeology.
