Recognising the importance and mutual benefits of bilateral cooperation, the two institutions agreed to exchange knowledge and promote research programmes to foster collaboration in Marine and Maritime Research. Specifically, the agreement aims to establish the principles governing the bilateral cooperation, focusing on Research and Innovation in the fields of Maritime Archaeology and Maritime Cultural Heritage.
The agreement was signed at the offices of the Department of Antiquities, in Nicosia, by the director of the Department of Antiquities, Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou, and the CEO of CMMI, Zacharias Siokouros, in the presence of Eftychia Zachariou, curator of antiquities, Department of Antiquities and Anna Demetriou, researcher at the Marine Culture Heritage Centre of CMMI.
