The statistical service of Cyprus’ Ministry of Finance revealed that 2017 arrivals to the island increased by 14.6 percent on 2016; notably, visitors from the GCC increased by 21.3 percent in 2017, with Saudi Arabia contributing the largest growth rate at 48.4 percent, followed by UAE at 19.6 percent.
Cyprus Tourism Organisation’s Middle East office is focusing on welcoming Gulf residents by highlighting the island’s natural scenery to promote tourist activities such as hiking, swimming, camping, cycling, playing golf or visiting the Troodos Mountains for seasonal skiing.
CTO is also portraying the island’s traditions, such as the upcoming Limassol Carnival, while also promoting the country’s museums, cultural and historical sights and events.
