All the island’s provinces display a degraded image at a level of structured environment. Mainly in tourist areas, local and foreign visitors are said to be bombarded with excessive signs, billboards on electrical pillars and facades of buildings.

To solve this issue, tourism boards are implementing a programme of aesthetic upgrading in various areas of the island including Zygi, Chirokitia, Voroklini and Ayios Lazaros in Larnaca.

In the framework of the above programme, signs on the buildings of the pilot area are being removed and replaced with a uniform design while the facades of buildings are being repaired.
