The authority received over 120 applications from football, swimming, biking and other groups.

Consequently, more than 3,500 athletes are expected to visit Cyprus for sports, resulting in 40,000 overnight stays for the island.

CTO is also actively supporting a grants scheme that sponsors the improvement or creation of sports facilities.

To date, this initiative has benefitted many local agents including the municipalities of Larnaca, Geroskipou and Ayia Napa.
