Upward Trend for Cyprus Tourism

The Passenger Survey has revealed that Cyprus welcomed 82,209 tourists in February, representing a year-on-year increase of 24.6 percent, from 65,988 arrivals in 2016.

The main source markets were the UK and Russia, with respective proportions of total arrivals at 33.5 percent and 17.6 percent, followed by Greece and Israel, representing 13.2 percent and 6.8 percent of all travellers, correspondingly. The majority of tourists, some 57.1 percent, visited the island for holidays, 23.1 percent were visiting friends or relatives, while 19.6 percent travelled for business purposes.

For the January – February period, the number of visitors reached 144,820 compared to 114,596 in the corresponding period in 2016, a boost of 26.4 percent.
