Eleftheria Square constitutes a significant architectural project, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, aiming to reconnect the ancient city's Venetians walls with the modern capital and beyond.

The square includes the construction of a new bridge and remodelling of the grounds in the area surrounding the medieval fortifications.

Additional facilities will include an informational centre, cafeteria, restaurant, amphitheatre, parking area and a bus stop.

Yiorkadjis acknowledged that the main procedural and budgetary challenges have now been resolved.
