The presentation of the Green Flags to the awarded Municipalities and Communities was made by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
The distinction of the Municipality of Larnaca concerns two important environmental interventions and projects:
- the creation of the Salina Municipal Park in the centre of Larnaca , in the category ‘Culture and Environment’,
- and the strengthening and expansion of the Green Beaches institution, in the category ‘Green Areas - Urban Biodiversity’.
At the same time, the Municipality of Larnaca was among the three finalist Municipalities for the Special Honorary Distinction ‘Golden Agrino’ and the title of Green Capital of Cyprus for 2025 .
This new recognition confirms the continuous effort of the Municipality of Larnaca to upgrade the urban environment, enhance greenery and biodiversity, but also to promote actions that substantially contribute to improving the quality of life of its citizens.
The Municipality of Larnaca consistently continues to implement policies and projects focused on sustainable development, environmental protection and the creation of a greener, more modern and humane city.
