According to Paphos Regional Board of Tourism, the coastal city has the capacity to accommodate more than 200,000 visitors during the winter period December – March 2018, with 11,000 beds to be in full operation during the season.
Larnaka Tourism Board has recently received TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for its Winter Experience programme, which took place for the fifth consecutive year.
The weekly initiative aims to boost winter tourism by providing free activities to tourists staying in Larnaca’s hotels between November and April.
Through a wide range of engaging activities including guided tours, excursions to villages, wine tasting, halloumi production, bird watching, basketry and preparation of local dishes of traditional dishes, the excursions enhance visitors’ experience while engaging them in local tradition.
The project is able to continue thanks to support from number of organisations such as Cyprus Tourism Organisation, Camel Park Mazotos, Ktima Christoudia, as well as local municipalities and other businesses.
