CSTI Task Force Combating Plastic Waste

Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Surfrider Foundation Europe, Tara Expeditions Foundation, Mava Foundation and IUCN are collaborating as part of a Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) task force to enhance the Prevent Plastic in the Mediterranean Sea initiative.

The initiative was developed by Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) to disseminate best practices, regarding the management of plastic waste. Prevent Plastic in the Mediterranean Sea has been ongoing since September 2017 and is scheduled to take place until November along Cyprus’ coastline.

The aim is to protect beaches from plastic litter, organise workshops to inform the hotel industry about sustainable management practices for plastic waste, as well as to inform and encourage tourists to reduce the use of plastics during their stay on the island.
