“Cyprus is a Mediterranean island, located in an area that is already experiencing the serious effects of climate change,” highlighted Anastasiades at the May 18 – 19 event in Nicosia.
“We have been witnessing prolonged periods of drought, increased temperatures, forest degradation and rare ecosystems.”
Anastasiades also outlined that Cyprus has become an Annex One to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Changend a Kyoto Protocol Party in 2013.
In this context, the island fully complies with the commitments and expectations of the International Community and the European Union and participates in joint efforts.
