The objective of Haji-Ioannou’s philanthropic act is to strengthen the socioeconomic ties between the two communities on the island and to encourage cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.

This year, Haji-Ioannou will be offering EUR500,000, rewarding 50 bicommunal teams (100 people) with EU10,000 each.

Since 2009, a grand total of EUR3.25 million has been awarded with the aim of promoting peace on the island.

Applications are only accepted on Stelios Philanthropic Foundation's Facebook page and must be submitted by September 07.

The winners are scheduled to be announced at an award ceremony in Nicosia, to be held in October.
