Cyprus’ own LP5 jazz quintet recently took part in the fifth Eunic Jazz Festival Berlin- My Unique Jazz Festival.

Held in Berlin, Germany, from May 09 – 20, the event was organised by European Union cultural network, European Union National Institutes for Culture (Eunic) to showcase European jazz diversity.

It included the participation of musicians, cultural institutes and embassies from 16 European countries, with LP5 representing Cyprus.

The quintet’s members, namely Loizos Pafitis on guitar, Nicolas Melis on piano, Andreas Rodosthenous on bass, Elias Ioannou on trumpet and Rodos Panayiotou on drums, are considered to be amongst Cyprus’ most promising up and coming jazz musicians.

The group performed new compositions by Pafitis and Rodosthenous while embracing the aesthetics and freedom of jazz improvisation.
