Environmental Commissioner Encourages PASYKAF Clothes Recycling

Ioanna Panayiotou, commissioner, environment, Cyprus, called on the public to embrace environmental initiatives such as the clothes recycling programme established by Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF).

“With its clothing recycling programme, PASYKAF undertakes both social and ecological work, because it one the one side contributes to the reduction of waste, and to reuse and recycling, while, on the other, using the income generated to strengthen its support of cancer patients,” said Panayiotou.

Speaking at an event on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 05, the commissioner pledged her office’s support of the programme.

Panayiotou also addressed the problems of climate change and the role poor dietary habits and carcinogenic substances in the workplace played in people developing cancer.
