Speaking at the Japanese Embassy’s July 23 official opening, Anastasiades noted the qualitative upgrading of relations between Cyprus and Japan over the past few years.
He said this relationship was based on genuine friendship, shared values and interests, mutual respect and understanding and a joint resolve to further deepen cooperation.
Anastasiades continued that, to this end, the opening of the Embassy of Japan undoubtedly marked a historic milestone.
Thanking Japan’s government for making the decision, Anastasiades also announced that, as a sign of reciprocity and tangible proof of Cyprus’ desire to widen the partnership; it would be opening an Embassy in Tokyo by the end of this year.
