In 2024, the EU exported EUR98.9 million worth of orchid, hyacinth, narcissus and tulip bulbs in growth or in flower, while imports were only EUR4.7 million.
The Netherlands continues to be the main EU exporter of orchid, hyacinth, narcissus and tulip bulbs, with exports worth EUR82 million, representing 83 percent of all exports. The other top exporters all had shares below 10 percent: Poland (9 percent), Belgium (4 percent), Germany (1 percent) and Denmark (1 percent).
Data show that Switzerland was the EU’s main partner, importing |EUR39.4 million worth of these products (40 percent of the total). Other key importers include the UK (15 percent), Norway (10 percent), Kyrgyzstan (7 percent) and Ukraine (6 percent).
The EU also exported EUR30.1 million worth of other plant bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, in growth or flower, with the Netherlands leading as the main exporter in this category as well (EUR17.9 million; 59 percent of the total).
