Scientifically known as oxyura leucocephala, the duck belongs to a rare species listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Following the news, Larnaka Tourism Board announced that it purchased telescopes specially designed for bird-watching, which are available to tour operators and guides in order to enhance the experience of visitors to the district.

Moreover, as part of its winter activities programme, the authority offers free tours and bird-watching sessions at Oroklini Lake every Monday at 10:15, until end of April.
