Cyprus’ First Biennale to Take Place In Larnaca

Cyprus’ first Biennale will take place from October 17 – November 30 in Larnaca and will feature a plethora of art and photography exhibitions, along with a calendar of premium performances for a rich cultural autumn.

A Biennale is a major multi-arts event that takes place every two years, and is popular in many countries around the world. The inaugural Biennale is being organised by MEM The Arts Biennale at Larnaca - a group of artists and art lovers. The event is further supported and sponsored by a host of Larnaca region businesses and organisations, with the Larnaca Tourism Board as one of the partners.

The theme for the Biennale is ‘Container-Content’, which Vassilis Vasiliades, curator, elaborates upon, “In reality, space is a container and content simultaneously, and what defines one form or another is the way we realise it as individuals.”

The main exhibition spaces hosting the submitted and selected art and photography works by artists from Cyprus and abroad are Larnaka Municipal Art Gallery, Pierides Museum, and Myth Factory. The parallel cultural calendar will feature a variety of concerts, plays and other performances.
