In an announcement, ACTE said its members, along with the wider tourism industry, were keeping a worried eye on apparent weaknesses in the control and security services provided at the airports.
It noted holdups at passport control level created a significant chain reaction of delays across all airport operations.
As the problem continued, it did damaged to the country’s tourism, ACTE said. While welcoming airport operator Hermes Airports’ decision to create border express kiosks, ACTE suggests on airport authorities as well as the police’s immigration office to better coordinate.
This coordination, ACTE said, should also include staffing additional checkpoints when necessary.
