Yiannis Karousos, mayor, Ayia Napa, said the float showcased Cavo Greco’s beauty, underlining the site belonged not only to Ayia Napa but the entire Famagusta district. He also noted the ruins of an ancient temple and 2km nature path dedicated to the goddess of beauty could be found in the area.
Theodoros Pyrillis, mayor, Paralimni, said this year’s carnival was expected to surpass every earlier edition, attracting over 30,000 visitors and more than 3,000 carnival participants.
Celebrations begin on February 08 with the coronation of the ‘queen’ in Paralimni’s main square and culminate in a large parade on February 18.
