During his speech, Haris Loizidis, president, CHA, highlighted the key role of tourism in transforming the economic crisis into an opportunity. He stated, “2016 was a milestone year. While global tourism grew four percent, the increase of tourism in Cyprus reached 20 percent.”
Loizides described the industry’s current targets, including the improvement of the competitiveness of the tourism product, while also extending the tourist season to make Cyprus an all-year round destination.
Lastly, Loizides disclosed that despite 2016’s positive figures there is still a long way to go, and not let opportunities slip away.
