January arrivals from the UK increased by 14.6 percent compared to January 2017, while a 35.2 percent increase was recorded for tourists from Greece. Increases were also recorded from other important tourist markets, such as Israel 57.2 percent, Germany 10.2 percent and Poland 77.2 percent. Contrary to that, Russian arrivals decreased by 20.8 percent.
In January this year, 55.2 percent visited the island for holidays, while 24.3 percent arrived to see friends and relatives, and 20.4 percent for business.
Accotding to CyStat, male tourists during the month comprised 45.9 percent and women 54.1 percent, with most belonging to the 20 – 44 years age group.
