A Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) announcement after the March 7 – 11 event noted there had been 198,000 tourist arrivals from Germany to Cyprus in 2017, a 52.2 percent increase on 2016, and over double the 2014 figure.
Reservations so far this year suggest the success of the past three years could be maintained. Additionally, CTO noted that it wants to work more closely with the German travel market, with this message being underlined during its contacts at ITB Berlin.
Describing German tourists to Cyprus, CTO labelled them as high-quality travellers that mostly visit during the September and October months, fitting well into the island’s efforts to extend the traditional summer tourism period.
CTO also reported that German tourists are known for their interest in activities offered on the island, such as; walks, cycling, golf, conference tourism, wedding tourism, among others.
