Paphos has taken a step closer to becoming a smart destination through its participation in a European Union’s European Regional Development Fund (Interreg Europe) proposal.

Pafos Regional Board of Tourism is part of a team headed by Metropolitan Development Agency of Thessaloniki - Joint Intermunicipal Company of Thessaloniki Greater Metropolitan Area, Greece.

The project is entitled Delivering Efficient Sustainable Tourism with low-carbon transport Innovations: Sustainable Mobility, Accessibility and Responsible Travel through which the Board aims to work with local stakeholders to create accessible tourism for all including visitors with mobility difficulties. The effort also includes improving pedestrian and cycling infrastructures.

The board will be allocated EUR180,000 of the EUR1.9 million budget awarded to the project, dividend amongst partners in the UK, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Latvia and Hungary.
