In a written statement, Vassiliou said the body’s formation was a milestone in efforts to strengthen the tourism sector, which she described as one of the most important pillars of Cyprus’ economy.
Vassiliou said that once the deputy ministry began operating on January 02, 2019, the National Strategy on Tourism formed over the past five years would begin to be implemented.
She noted this strategy included the clear setting of goals and scheduled completion of these towards the upgrading and promotion of Cyprus’ tourism product.
She continued that the operation of the deputy ministry would enrich Cyprus’ tourism product, helping to make it one of the most competitive high-end destinations.
