The awards ceremony was held at Larnaca’s House of Art and Letters on July 16.
The Zouhouri complex encompasses a mosque, its yard and surrounding structures and the former Turkish Cypriot market. Situated in Larnaca’s urban centre, the area is considered historically significant.
As noted by Larnaca Municipality, financial problems had prevented earlier efforts to restore the area from moving ahead but the project’s pre-selection by the European Funds Unit will see it co-funded by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund as part of the Competiveness and Sustainable Development for 2014 – 2020 operational programme.
