For the period of January – September arrivals of tourists totalled 3,239,760 compared to 3,001,603 in the corresponding period of 2017, recording an increase of 7,9 percent and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first nine months of the year.
Tourist arrivals from the UK increased by 5,3 percent in September compared to September 2017 while an increase of 1,7 percent was recorded for tourists from Israel.
Tourist arrivals from Germany and Greece also increased by three percent and four percent respectively. Contrary to that, a decrease of 4,1 percent in tourist arrivals from Russia and 4,9 percent from Sweden were recorded.
The UK constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for September, with a proportion of 33,5 percent while arrivals from Russia comprise 22,4 percent of total arrivals, from Israel 6,2 percent and from Germany 4,3 percent.
For a percentage of 88,1 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in September was for holidays, for 8,2 percent to visit friends and relatives and for 3,7 percent was for business.
