This October had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.
For the period of January – October of this year arrivals of tourists totalled 3,673,377 compared to 3,408,473 in the corresponding period of 2017, recording an increase of 7,8 percent and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first 10 months of the year.
Tourist arrivals from the UK increased by 12,4 percent in October compared to October 2017 while an increase of 4,8 percent was recorded for tourists from Sweden and two percent increase from Greece. Contrary to that, a decrease of 4,5 percent in tourist arrivals from Russia and 19 percent from Germany were recorded.
The UK constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for October this year, with a proportion of 34,9 percent while arrivals from Russia comprise 19,2 percent of total arrivals, from Germany 5,9 percent and from Sweden 4,6 percent.
For a percentage of 86,1 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in for October was holidays, for 8,1 percent to visit friends and relatives and for 5,8 percent was for business.
