The EDEN Excellent European Destinations Competition Completed

The EDEN Excellent European Destinations competition on Health and well-being Tourism was successfully completed.

Organised by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the winning destination was the community of Milos, a site that represents the theme of this year's competition, as the community is an emerging and non-traditional, low-visibility tourist destination, where tourism services and wellness activities are provided based on the destination's natural resources.

The European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) programme is implemented in the framework of the European COSME Programme, promoted at the initiative of the European Commission's Tourism Unit and promotes sustainable tourism development models across the EU.

By selecting destinations of excellence, EDEN succeeds in drawing attention to the value, diversity and common characteristics of European tourism destinations and promoting those destinations where economic growth is pursued in such a way as to ensure social, cultural and environmental sustainability of tourism.
