Extension of Cyprus’ Domestic Tourism Support Plan until March 31, 2021

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus, after the approval of the council of ministers, announced the extension of the duration of the extraordinary plan for the support of domestic tourism, until March 31, 2021.

The plan covers:

(a) the provision of affordable prices by tourist accommodation;

(b) the granting of part of the cost of accommodation to the citizens who

will take advantage of it.

 The main purpose of the plan is to strengthen all local businesses, through the increased traffic that is expected to be generated in various parts of the country, and the fact that the tourist accommodation that will participate in the plan, are obliged, at the prices they will offer, to provide breakfast only.

 It is expected that the plan will continue to help reduce the recession in the economy and maintain employment, in the difficult times that the world economy is going through due to the coronation.

 The plan includes tourist accommodations (hotels, organised apartments, tourist villages, agritourism accommodations), which offer for the whole period the maximum price of 60 euros with breakfast for a double room per night.

 In addition, the plan provides for the coverage of 35 percent of the accommodation costs by the state department, instead of the 25 percent that was valid until recently, including the charges for children, who will stay in the same room with their parents. The two nights are set as the minimum stay for the use of the above prices.

 The state department requests the public to communicate directly with the tourist accommodations included in the special directory that has been posted on the website of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism or with travel organisers.
