Cyprus Tourist Arrivals for July Show Increase

Cyprus arrivals of tourists reached 297,308 in July of this year, recording an increase of 358 percent compared to July 2020 (during which 64,914 arrivals were recorded), and a decrease of 46 percent compared to July 2019 (with 550,971 arrivals).

For the period of January – July of this year, arrivals of tourists totaled 638,292 compared to 320,589 in the corresponding period of 2020, recording an increase of 99,1 percent, and a decrease of 70,7 percent compared to the period of January – July 2019 (2,181,994 arrivals).

Arrivals from Russia were the main source of tourism for July, with a share of 28,2 percent (83.926) of total arrivals, followed by the UK with 9,8 percent (29.149), Poland with 7,6 percent (22.460), Israel with 5,4 percent (16.171), Ukraine with 5 percent (14.731) and Greece with 4,7 percent (13.957).

For a percentage of 85 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in July was holidays, for 11,3 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 3,7 percent business. Respectively, in July 2020, 70,6 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 20,1 percent visited friends or relatives and 9,3 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.
