For the period of January – September of this year, arrivals of tourists totalled 2.540.554 compared to 1.299.392 in the corresponding period of 2021, 512.184 in the period of January – September 2020 and 3.260.546 arrivals in the period of January – September 2019.
Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for September, with a share of 41,1 percent (169.799) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 8,5 percent (35.013), Poland with 5,5 percent (22.922), Germany with 5,4 percent (22.244), Greece with 4,5 percent (18.802) and Sweden with 4,5 percent (18.463).
For a percentage of 86,1 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in September was holidays, for 9,1 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 4,7 percent business. Respectively, in September 2021, 86,6% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 9,3 percent visited friends or relatives and 4,1 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.
