Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for August, with a share of 35,9 percent (183.642) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 14,9 percent (76.130), Poland with 5,8 percent (29.495), Germany with 4,5 percent (23.178) and Sweden with 3,6 percent (18.218).
For a percentage of 86 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in August was holidays, for 11,9 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 2 percent business. Respectively, in August 2022, 85,5 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 12,4 percent visited friends or relatives and 2,1 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.
A total number of 199.920 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in August compared to 153.563 in the corresponding month in 2022, recording an increase of 30,2 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in August were Greece with a share of 40,4 percent (80.713), the UK with 5,7 percent (11.329), Italy with 5,3 percent (10.516), France with 3,7 percent (7.389) and Russia with 3,2 percent (6.490).
The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in August was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 90,4 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 5,9 percent, studies 2,1 percent and other reasons 1,5 percent.
