Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for April, with a share of 35,3 percent (117.902) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 10,7 percent (35.673), Poland with 7,6 percent (25.250), Germany with 6,7 percent (22.510) and Greece with 3,9 percent (13.056).
For a percentage of 82,1 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in April was holidays, for 9,4 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 8,3 percent business. Respectively, in April 2023, 79,3 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 14,5 percent visited friends or relatives and 6 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.
A total number of 132.806 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in April this year compared to 135.659 in the corresponding month in 2023, recording a decrease of 2,1 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in April were Greece with a share of 35,7 percent (47.441), the UK with 9,6 percent (12.749) and Italy with 6 percent (7.907).
The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in April was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 61,1 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 22,1 percent, studies 15,4 percent and other reasons 1,4 percent.
