Larnaka Tourism Board and the Youth Board of Cyprus at the Cyprus Tourism Awards

Larnaka Tourism Board (LTB) has won a trio of awards at this year’s Cyprus Tourism Awards with Gold, Silver and Bronze accolades, making it the third consecutive year of wins for LTB.

Two awards are in collaboration with the Youth Board of Cyprus (ONEK) / Youth Makerspace Larnaka; a Gold award for the innovative ‘Larnaka Storytelling Statues’ and a Silver award for the 3D ‘Ancient Port of Kition Virtual Reconstruction’. LTB also won a Bronze award for the ‘Larnaka Virtual Museums’ platform – an island-first where viewers can take virtual, interactive 360° tours of the region’s popular museums.

All three pioneering projects are aimed at offering the tech-savvy tourist a new way of experiencing the region’s attractions by combining Larnaca’s rich history and culture with digital technologies. Through the virtual and interactive experiences, the focal points of the city and region are given an exciting and interesting dimension as opposed to the traditional methods of imparting information. All the projects are accessible via www.larnakaregion.com under the ‘Interactive & Virtual’ section.

Dinos Lefkaritis, president, LTB, thanked everyone involved for the effort and imagination that made the pioneering projects possible; the staff of LTB and ONEK, as well as the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the board members and other external associates for their support. “It is not an easy time that we are experiencing, but we are working hard to improve our touristic product and to adapt to the changing trends that the modern era brings to make Larnaca tourism more competitive,” said Lefkaritis.
