The study by Compare The Market, analysed popular destinations around the world on a number of factors from which an overall weighted score was created and each country was ranked.
Paphos in Cyprus is the second best destination in the world to buy a holiday home. The city ranks second place thanks to its Mediterranean climate, with an average annual temperature of 19.2˚C, as well as being among the more affordable places analysed, with an average house price per square metre of €1,547. If you want a holiday home somewhere with fewer tourists, where you can really immerse yourself with the locals, Paphos in Cyprus may be a good choice.
Another Cyprus location, Larnaca is also ranked in the top 10. Larnaca is ranked as the ninth best location to buy a holiday home. Larnaca has an average annual temperature of 19.5˚C and like Paphos is one of the most affordable places we analysed, with the average house price per square metre costing €1,318.
As the capital of the northern Italian region of Veneto, Venice is named the number one holiday hotspot in the world. Known for being built upon a lagoon of over 100 small islands on the shores of the Adriatic, the main reason it ranks as the number one destination is the sheer concentration of things to do and places to eat and drink within its relatively small area.
