The World Maritime Day celebrates the international maritime industry’s contribution towards the world’s economy. The theme for the year is IMO 70: Our Heritage – Better Shipping for a Better Future.

During the member’s meeting, Christos Atalianis, senior marine surveyor, Shipping Deputy Ministry, presented the structure and commendable work of the IMO, along with a presentation on the IMO Maritime Ambassador Scheme by the Chamber’s Marine Manager and, Alexandros Josephides, IMO Maritime Ambassador for Cyprus. The two short films developed for this day’s celebrations by the IMO, were also shown.

Furthermore, the Chamber is participating at the official celebrations for the World Maritime Day 2018 by the IMO, which are held at their Headquarters in London on September 27.
